This is one in a series of three trails designed for walkers, horse riders and mountain bikers to explore our fabulous Monmouthshire countryside. Enjoy riverside views beside the Wye and discover hidden heritage along the way.
A highlight for horse riders is the 2 mile flat bridle path running beside the Wye to the Boat at Redbrook, giving the opportunity for an unrestricted canter in a beautiful setting. You can return on the adjacent old railway track. Please be considerate of other users and pass fishermen at a respectful pace and distance. This trail links up with the Tintern Hidden History trail at Whitelye, making a total route of nearly 26 miles (42 kms).
4 hours riding / 5 - 6 hours walking
14 1/2 miles
(inc. 4 mile riverside extension to Redbrook). This fairly flat,
level section along the railway line from Whitebrook to Redbrook
(18 - 20) is suitable for heavy duty
buggies/wheelchairs/pushchairs.
